In the instrument industry, a liquid chromatograph that runs stably for fifteen years and remains active on the front line of testing is not only a testament to the product’s superior quality but also reflects the user’s meticulous maintenance and the manufacturer’s continuous service. Today, Elite’s sales representative (E) visited a senior engineer (U) from the laboratory of a pharmaceutical company in Guangzhou, China to talk about their story with the Elite P1201 HPLC.

HPLC Instruments Used 15 years

E: Hello! I heard there are a few “old veterans” in your lab that have been in service for more than a decade?

U: (Smiling) Yes, we still have three Elite P1201 HPLC instruments in our lab. They have been used for a full 15 years (purchased in 2011 – editor’s note). Back then, to improve our drug quality testing system, we compared several brands and finally bought these three units at once. Although our company is not large, our daily testing workload is considerable. These three instruments run almost every day, and to this day they operate very smoothly. They have always been the mainstay of our liquid chromatography testing – truly our “old veterans”.

E: Fifteen years – that’s a very long time! What do you think are the most critical factors for such long-term stable operation?

U: I think there are two main points. First, the instrument itself is fundamentally solid. The core hardware of the Elite P1201 is very robust – the stability of the pump, the sensitivity of the detector – over these years there have been almost no major problems. We rarely saw common issues like unstable pressure, baseline drift, data deviation, or leakage. The injection repeatability and flow precision have always remained stable, fully meeting the stringent testing standards of the pharmaceutical industry. Many of our peers are amazed when they hear that our old instruments are still in use, and some have even come to our lab to see for themselves.

Second, of course, the meticulous care from our lab colleagues. For precision analytical instruments, “three parts rely on quality, seven parts rely on maintenance”. We have always strictly followed operating procedures. Before and after each day’s experiments, we flush the tubing, clean the pump head, maintain the injection system, regularly check the operating status, and promptly replace consumable parts as needed. At the same time, some of the built‑in warning and protection features of the instrument have also helped us reduce wear. This long‑term, standardised, and detailed care has kept these three old instruments in good working condition and has extended their service life to the maximum.

E: It seems that “seventy percent maintenance” is really important. Over these 15 years, what impression have Elite’s after‑sales services left on you?

U: They deserve praise! This is also the key reason we have trusted Elite for fifteen years. Even the best instruments, when used frequently over a long period, inevitably encounter issues like consumable replacement, minor fault diagnosis, or parameter adjustment. Elite’s after‑sales response is very prompt. Whether it’s routine consultation, parameter calibration, or occasional minor faults, we receive a quick response as soon as we contact their after‑sales team. For problems that can be solved remotely, the engineers patiently guide us; for more complex issues, they arrange an engineer to visit on‑site as soon as possible – never delaying or passing the buck.

For a pharmaceutical company like ours, testing cannot be interrupted; instrument downtime means work stoppage. Elite’s efficient after‑sales service minimises our instrument downtime and ensures the continuity of our laboratory testing work. More importantly, Elite has always provided us with long‑term, effective parts support. For an old model like the P1201, key spare parts are still available – our instruments never became “orphans” because they are old. This thoughtful, long‑lasting after‑sales guarantee has given us peace of mind and confidence.

E: Thank you for your recognition. What are your expectations for Elite’s future new products?

U: Definitely! We have been following Elite’s product iterations and technology upgrades. Seeing the stable performance of the old equipment over fifteen years, we are full of confidence in Elite’s R&D strength and product quality. Recently we have also been paying attention to the new ultra‑high performance liquid chromatography system (EClassical 3200L – editor’s note) that Elite has launched. We hear that it has made great progress in pressure resistance, flow precision, and intelligence. We have upcoming expansion or upgrade plans, and we will certainly give priority to Elite’s new models. We hope that the new equipment will continue the stability and durability of the classic models while further improving intelligence and automation, better meeting the fine‑scale, high‑throughput testing needs of the pharmaceutical industry.

E: Thank you! Your trust is our greatest motivation.

U: And thank you, Elite, for being with us all these years. I hope you will keep getting better and better. For liquid chromatography, we choose Elite!

Epilogue: One instrument, fifteen years of dedication, countless accurate tests – this bears witness to Elite’s commitment to quality and its promise to users. Thank you to all our new and old customers for your trust and choice. For liquid chromatography, choose Elite!
