D3270L Evaporative Light Scattering Detector (ELSD)

The D3270L Evaporative Light Scattering Detector (ELSD) is a universal mass-sensitive detector that does not rely on the optical properties of the analyte, making it ideal for compounds lacking chromophores or fluorescent groups. It operates through three well-defined stages—atomization, evaporation, and detection—and delivers stable baselines even under multi-solvent gradient conditions. The detector incorporates a 30 mW, 650 nm high-stability Class 1 laser and a high-sensitivity photomultiplier tube, ensuring excellent sensitivity and reproducibility. Flexible parameter control is available via a handheld controller or fully integrated Kromstation software, allowing adjustment of evaporation temperature, carrier gas flow, nozzle heating, sensitivity, signal bias, output range, sampling frequency, and digital filtering. Up to ten complete methods can be stored and recalled. Intelligent features include automatic power-on self-test, leak alarm, TCP communication, and comprehensive alarm settings for temperature, flow, and pressure, ensuring safe and unattended operation.

Performance

The D3270L ELSD is designed for universal detection in UHPLC, HPLC, GPC, preparative LC, and counter-current chromatography. It reliably detects non-volatile and semi-volatile compounds—including carbohydrates, lipids, polymers, surfactants, and natural products—without requiring UV absorption or derivatization. The detector maintains exceptional baseline stability during gradient elution, enabling high-resolution separations with fast methods. Fully integrated with the Kromstation chromatography workstation via TCP, it supports automated method control, real-time monitoring, and multi-step data processing. With its wide dynamic range, adjustable sensitivity, and customizable alarm thresholds, the D3270L delivers consistent quantitative performance and is ideally suited for pharmaceutical, biomedical, food, and chemical quality control laboratories.
