Amber WCX

The ion exchange chromatography columns include four models: Amber SCX 5μm, Amber SAX 5μm, Amber WCX 5μm and Amber WAX 5μm. Their packing materials are rigid, non-porous spherical polystyrene/divinylbenzene (PS/DVB) particles with a high cross-linking degree. A nanoscale-thickness neutral polymer film with high hydrophilicity is covalently bonded to the surface of the PS/DVB resin, fully coating the hydrophobic PS/DVB resin surface with this hydrophilic material. Ion exchange functional groups are then densely and uniformly bonded to the surface of the hydrophilic layer, yielding a high-capacity ion exchange layer. Amber ion exchange resins are suitable for the separation of proteins, oligonucleotides, polypeptides, polysaccharides, cell lysates, nanoparticles and nanotubes

How It Works

Packing Structure

Amber ion exchange resins consist of a rigid PS/DVB core, a nanoscale hydrophilic coating that fully encapsulates the PS/DVB core, and a uniform layer of ion exchange functional groups, with the structure shown in the figure.

Figure 1 Schematic Diagram of the Chemical Structure of Ion Exchange Phases

There are four types of ion exchange stationary phases: strong cation exchange (SCX), weak cation exchange (WCX), strong anion exchange (SAX), and weak anion exchange (WAX). Amber SCX, WCX, SAX and WAX stationary phases are formed by covalently bonding sulfonic acid groups, carboxylic acid groups, quaternary ammonium groups and tertiary amine groups to the surface of the hydrophilic coating on non-porous PS/DVB resins, respectively.

  • Monodisperse packing particles
  • Wide pH range: 2–12
  • Excellent separation efficiency, selectivity and resolution
  • High pressure tolerance: 10, 5, 3 & 1.7 μm particles withstand 4000, 6000, 8000 & 12000 psi respectively
  • High resolution for differential analysis of various biological species
  • 7 & 3 μm particle size packing is optimal for the separation and analysis of total proteins in proteomics
  • Suitable for peptides, carbohydrates, polysaccharides, proteins, polynucleotides, cell lysates and multidimensional chromatography separation
